A Note for Someone You’ll Never Meet: Inside the BRIDGE Notes Pop-Up
What would happen if someone left a handwritten note for a person they’d never meet… and then took one in return?
That question became the foundation of the BRIDGE Notes pop-up. With a blanket, stationery, and an A-frame, I headed to the park and invited anyone passing by to participate.
BRIDGE Notes is a community pop-up series designed to spark moments of kindness, empathy, and feeling seen through handwritten words. Each person is invited to write a note for someone they’ll never meet, then choose a note someone else has left behind.
After seeing the first BRIDGE Notes video on Instagram, American Greetings and Papyrus generously gifted cards and stationery for future pop-ups! I was so excited to bring their beautiful cards into the experience, and even more excited to see how much people loved choosing one to write in.
The messages offered encouragement, hope, and reminders that someone out there is rooting for you. Each note became a small gift from one stranger to another.
“The world is so much better with you in it <3”
People of all ages stopped by to participate. Kids carefully thought about what they wanted to write. Others spent time reading through the notes before choosing one to take home. Many lingered to tell me what the experience meant to them or to share a story from their own lives.
Watching people contribute something meaningful to someone they’ve never met really cemented the feeling that we’re all craving a kinder world, and that the seemingly smallest touchpoints can make the biggest difference.
Truth be told, leaving handwritten notes for loved ones in suitcases, on cups of tea, and in lunch boxes has always been one of my love languages. Having the opportunity to share this with the world and invite others in to do the same, has become a new favorite way to spend my time.
I’m excited to continue bringing BRIDGE Notes to parks, community spaces, events, and beyond. If you happen to see a blanket, a stack of stationery, and a sign somewhere around Denver, I’d love for you to drop by. :)
